Frequently Asked Question

06. I need to step away from my connection, can I do so?
Last Updated 3 years ago

Possibly. The Supervisor Department recommends disconnecting from the network if you need to step away from your connection for longer than a quick 5 minute break.

For pilots outside of actively controlled airspace, you may leave your connection unattended for no longer than 30 minutes with the following stipulations. You must monitor your flight at all times and make timely contact with appropriate air traffic controllers (ATC). This includes making prompt contact with ATC if requested to do so, even if you are within your allowable 30 minute window.

If you are flying in actively controlled airspace, you must coordinate your absence from the cockpit with the ATC who is currently responsible for your flight. Regardless, ATC cannot approve absences longer than allowed by the Code of Conduct.
